Seniors SummitDistricts 9 & 10 Seniors Summit
Councilmen Sheffie Kadane and Jerry Allen invite you to join elected officials and representatives from Dallas' Senior Affairs Commission as they present a Seniors Summit at 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 2 at Ridgewood Park Recreation Center. This weekend, Dallas Arboretum unveils its Great Pumpkin Festival. In addition to chrysanthemums, marigolds, ornamental peppers and other fall flowers that will be in bloom throughout 66 acres in the gardens ... thousands of pumpkins will be on display, including rare and unique pumpkins and some fashioned into a 15-foot pumpkin house. The next Volunteers in Patrol (VIP) class is scheduled for Sat., Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the basement of Dallas City Hall where the 911 call center is located.  The VIP program has proven to be an effective deterrent to crime in neighborhoods throughout Dallas.  Learn more.

New animal ordinances in Dallas set new minimum requirements for pet owners, including changes regarding: pet registration, tethering and confinement, maximum number of pets in a household, spaying and neutering, dangerous dogs, and animals as a "prize" in a raffle or fundraising event. National Night OutAmerica's night out against crime
National Night Out is a community event designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations. In Texas, National Night Out will be celebrated on Oct. 7. In District 9, one of the major activities planned will be a first-time National Night Out event sponsored by the Casa Linda Estates and Little Forest Hills Neighborhood Associations.
